Goals
My goals for this class are to at least become computer literate. I think that technology is important in order to be a successful teacher. In the school I work at every classroom has a smart board and it is amazing. It is also sad that many teachers do not use them or know how. I do not know how to blog, make a power point, utilize a spreadsheet. I basically know how to use e-mail and how to search the Internet. Power points will be helpful to know how to make for the classroom. Also spreadsheets even for personal use would be nice. I guess it is about time I catch up with the rest of the world. I am looking forward to learning new things and I hope that I do not get lost on the way.

Oh, I am so sorry to admit this! I am pleased to learn that I am not the only grown-up in the world unable to utilize a spreadsheet. I don't know how many times I've clicked on the spreadsheet option on my computer and then realizde that all I really wanted to do was make a simple table. Sometimes it gets all too easy to start avoiding the things I'm unsure of and I am not at all sure of what I am doing in this class! I'm excited for you to become the lead teacher! Is there a particular incident or experience that gave you the push to go for it?
ReplyDeleteCarrie: What do you mean by computer literate? You've outlined a number of technologies that you want to learn HOW TO do. What about integrating them into your lessons? Perhaps one of you main goals might be to learn how to use the SMART board and be able to teach others how to integrate into their curriculum. Since you will have actual access to the interactive whiteboard, I hope you will be able to add to the conversation in the Hardware module.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to your goals, what do you know pedagogically that can help you succeed in this course? Learning HOW TO work a technology is only part of the process. The other part is combining your content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge to integrate the technology effectively. Also, how to you intend to measure whether you have met your goals? They're still pretty vague.
Since you are actually in the classroom right now, you have insights that many of the others do not. I hope that you will share those insights in the various discussions and in your blog posts/comments. It will help you make connections with what you are learning as well as benefit the others in the class. Thanks for sharing.
